Day 10 – Nemrut Sanctuary: Mountain of the Gods

After a traditional Van breakfast, we will visit the Citadel of Van, established in the mid-8th century B.C. and possibly the longest continuously used fortress in the world, having seen military action as recently as 1922. Adjacent to the Citadel, we visit the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum, which contains artifacts from the Neolithic to Ottoman times, with a special focus on the Urartian period.
